AWARD-WINNING PROJECT:A virtual museum on CD-ROM, devoted to the architect, town planner and painter Le Corbusier.
A trained architect, Jean-François Dareths discovered multimedia while preparing for his post-graduate diploma in cultural and new technologies management. His interest aroused, he went on to develop various CDIs and interactive terminals. The project awarded the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation Special prize centred on the design of a virtual museum devoted to the architect Le Corbusier. “As well as the subject itself – architecture – it was also fascinating because I had to give a framework to the CD-ROM. For a builder like Le Corbusier, I had to play with space, interaction and more.” After failing to get copyright clearance from the Fondation Le Corbusier, Jean-François was unable to complete his CD-ROM. However, that didn’t prevent him from creating his own graphic and multimedia design agency, JFD Design.
