AWARD-WINNING PROJECT: A report on the profession of theatre prompting and how it has changed since the 17th century, filmed in France at the Comédie Française, in Italy at Milan’s La Scala and in Vienna at the Burgtheatre.
After earning a DESS degree in public law in Montpellier, Anne Crignon started out in a leadership role at an environmental association. Having dreamed of becoming a legal columnist since she was 12, she got an internship at l’Evénement du Jeudi and then became an intern at Point. After that, she did a stretch of freelance work for Grands Reportages, VSD, Le Monde, le Nouvel Observateur, Que Choisir, Libération and even Sciences et Avenir. The grant from the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation allowed Anne to produce a report that she felt very strongly about: Portrait d’un Souffleur. She traveled from the theatres of Paris’ Comédie Française to Milan’s La Scala “to show – through the story of what happens behind the curtains and the documents kept by each theatre – what the profession is and how it has changed since the 17th century."
