AWARD-WINNING PROJECT: The production of a feature-length animated film based on a novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, following the initial journey of a young orphan, David Belfour, in 18th-century Scotland.
Lauranne Bourrachot is a graduate of the Paris Political Studies Institute (1988-1991). During an internship at the CSA, she discovered audiovisual production, and then assumed a series of positions in film and television production. She spent some time at Azilah Productions (the production company of 1993 winner Mohamed Ulad-Mohand), working on two short films and a documentary co-produced by Canal+. She then worked on a series for France 3 in May 1996, Quasimodo, comprising 26 animated episodes of 26 minutes each (produced by Arès Films). Several months later, Lauranne Bourrachot created a subsidiary for Arès Film, Cartoon Express, which she directs. She then decided to create her own production company for animated films, Extérieur Jour. The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation grant allowed her to finalize the pilot of Kidnapped and to convince decision-makers that “Made in France” and “Made in Europe” cartoons have a future and a market.
Achievements since winning the Grant
