For this, its first edition, “Paris fait sa Comédie” has decided to make the discovery of young comedy talent one of its priorities. A number of young performers will take to the stage, kicking off a travelling show that will tour France between September 2007 and March 2008.
With the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, the festival wanted to go even further, by organizing open casting sessions to attract as many people as possible, throughout the tour. Academies will be asked to pass on this information to their students in areas ranging from disadvantaged districts to isolated rural zones.
Thanks to these casting sessions, budding comedians will have the opportunity to present their sketch in the first section of the shows and be considered in the selection of talents for the 2008 edition of the festival.
The result will be the creation of a giant “chain of humour” which will see prize-winners at the “Paris fait sa Comédie” festival themselves becoming sponsors.
The initiative is supported by an association, “Les Amis de Paris fait sa Comédie”, which works in close partnership with the festival. It is backed by Guy Bedos and supported by Bruno Solo, Bruno Salomone and Denis Maréchal.
This initiative is fully in line with the vocation of the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation which, in its various projects, seeks to combine creativity with solidarity and social links.
To launch this initiative, the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation awarded three young talents, Charlotte Gabris, Stéphane Pursang and Julien de Ruyck by offering them the first "Prix Découverte" at the Gymnase Theater.
