The nineth edition of e-magiciens took place on 27 - 30 november at Valenciennes. The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation decided to support these european meetings of the young digital creation.
Being at the forefront of ideas, where the future and talents take shape. The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation once again participated in the organisation of the 9th edition of e.magiciens, a critical event for young people involved in the world of digital creation in Europe. In December 2006, this event has students, professors and theorists flocking to Valenciennes.
The festival proposes showing of video and multimedia works by European students.Among them, two original animations : the chained animation is a collective and interactive work carried out by the students and finalized during the festival. About forty students are expecting to express their creativity from an original imposed picture. Set up in the Phenix theatre passageway, each team must produce a 10-second computer graphic animation, which will be edited end to end to finally form a unique work. It has been screened during the closing party. The second animation is the Webjam, which is a "live performance" where teams made up of 3 students have to produce, using the program Flash, a graphic work based on a given theme. Their work has to be done "live" during e-magicians 2007.
This year's theme : Asia. To mark the occasion, Chineses students from the "A digital Experience" project were invited to the festival. Thanks to the Fondation Jean-Luc Lagardère, a projection of Ben Stassen's Fly me to the moon (the first stereoscopic feature-lenght animation made in Europe) was scheduled for the opening night.
During the festival, the Fondation Jean-Luc Lagardère awarded students selected for the Best of 2007 with grants. The Fondation Jean-Luc Lagardère also financed the production of a DVD featuring the films shown during the festival to make them accessible to a wide and varied public.
