The second tennis course organised by Yannick Noah’s association, Fête le Mur, and the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, took place at the Sophia Country-Club, in Sophia-Antipolis, from 1st to 8th July 2007.Cultural workshops are also set up for the occasion, including reading, Rap song writing, Hip Hop and more.
Within the context of the partnership initiated last year by Fête le Mur and the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, the 30 young hopefuls who “graduated” from the Jean-Luc Lagardère association benefited from an individual training programme and took part in regional tournaments.
This first taste of competition began with a first course on clay courts at the Sophia-Antipolis site between 1st and 8th July 2007. For a whole week, the children were physically prepared by TeamLagardère’s Frédéric Descamps and played tennis all day with their coaches. They also met professional players, including Arnaud di Pasquale, bronze medallist at the Sydney Olympic Games and Alizé Cornet, a Junior Roland Garros winner in 2007.
With regard to the cultural part in the Fête le Mur Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation partnership, some of the children took part in a writing workshop led by Ahmed Mazouz (2005 Musician Lagardère Grant winner) of group La Caution. The other children danced hip-hop with Claire Moineau, a dancer called in by Valentine Duong (2006 digital creator Lagardère Grant winner). A show at the end of the course enabled each child to express him or herself on stage.
The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation also gave away several books to the children, with the support of French publisher Hachette Jeunesse.
