AWARD-WINNING PROJECT: creation of a website on the theme of schizophrenia. Trouble tells the story of a week in the life of a 22-year-old patient.
Her name is Sara, she is German and she has taken a qualification in cinema studies and various courses in photography. His name is Thierry, and along the way he has picked up a two-year undergraduate diploma in plastic arts. They met at the Paris multimedia school. It is the combination of these two points of view that makes Trouble as effective as it is. Trouble is a virtual representation of a week in the life of a schizophrenic. At first glance, this is an unfamiliar world, but then gradually each stage unfolds, day by day, through intuitive navigation and a series of hallucinations that are as highly coloured as they are terrifying, leading us into the midst of a psychosis and taking us to the heart of a condition that is both extremely widespread and yet one of those least understood by the general public.
Slice of life after slice of life, we explore the main stages of the illness, its risks and its impact on the day-to-day life and physical condition of the patient. Deliberately dramatic (and finally culminating in a happy ending), the action mirrors the structure of a Greek tragedy: its turning point comes when the patient decides to interrupt his medical treatment, which is well known for being hard to manage on a day-to-day basis. "It's a difficult subject and we had to invest a lot of ourselves in it," explain the pair. "We carried out very detailed research, particularly with psychiatrists. As far as the rest was concerned, we had to work on the technical aspects just as much as on the graphical elements." A way of making direct contact, with a pounding heart, with the strange reality shared by 600 million people throughout the world.
